Penguin tell me that sales of the book have picked up again in the period around Christmas, but after Christmas they’ll no doubt tail off. But, that’s the nature of this crazy business. Many books, even popular ones, have a shelf life somewhat less than a can of peas.  Who’d be a writer?

I’m on to the next book now but can’t talk about this one. I’m contracted to keep shtum.
